We love camping and are out ~40 nights per season in Wisconsin State Parks. We are considering replacing our small trailer with a Class C RV (24’ size). Please advise where we can read comments on benefits and challenges of owning an RV (other than initial investment). For example are they more flexible/easier to set up and move from site to site, more options for where you camp (non-electric for example) take longer trips? We appreciate your feedback.

RV with onboard generator is definitely a plus.
I've never had a class c but here's hardest to easiest to set up with what I have had:

Hardest
Several travel trailers
Have to undo sway control, back in, check side to side with level, possibly move forward and drag boards out, put down boards, back onto boards, check level again, chock wheels, undo weight distribution hitch and get grease all over me, pull away, level front to back, put down jacks, put out slide or slides.

Next Hardest
Fifth wheel
Chock wheels, put down front jacks, put down tailgate and pull lever on hitch and unhook and pull away. Push auto level button. When it's done, put out slides.

Easiest
Class A
Set parking brake. Put out slides at travel height (on my current model). Push auto air level and level coach.

All of them have to have water, sewer and electric hooked up similarly. My motorhome is easier though since it has a power cord reel and a hose reel, so no storing and dragging them out. For sewer I only have to pull out the sanicon hose when I want to dump, so also easier.

I think one of the biggest practical changes in going from a TT to a motorhome - what you do for transportation when you are at the campground? With the TT you have your towing vehicle to use but with a Class C you will either need to be constantly tearing down and setting up, or bring along a separate vehicle.

We bring along a separate vehicle.
