Ventana Gen Hood hard to Open

Have a 2016 Ventana LE 4037. The hood for the generator is heavy and hard to hold open while under it to access the prop rod and get it in the hole.



Has anyone installed gas struts to on the hood to solve this issue? If so would appreciate you sharing what you did.

Some have done this on Dutch Stars and I think Newmar now uses them on some as a result. @Dutch Star Don was the pioneer of this effort I believe. It is possible but will require some engineering. Fortunately we rarely need to be in there.

Did this mod a couple of years ago using dutchstardon’s directions. One of the better mods to be done in my opinion.

These are the ones DDDon suggested. Note also that I used predrilled angle iron so I could move the rod up or down.
