We are new to this RV camping. We have a Lance 865 with a Dodge RAM 2500. I have not been able to get a reservation in a state parks. ) NO Availability!! We are always the smallest rig at RV parks. I need help locating hooks ups for a smaller rig or a suggestion of where to go. I feel uncomfortable going to a BLM spots if we will be all alone. We're in the SF Bay area.

Head up Hwy 1. Lots of parks and while many require reservations, some (if not all) state parks have first come first served spots. Plan to arrive around noon when people are checking out. Ive always been able to find spots in both public and private campgrounds. Wrights Beach is a good one and while it is often booked it has an over flow area. Its in the Sonoma Coast State Park along with these:
  • Bodega Dunes $35.00 / night
  • Hike & Bike site $5.00
  • Wrights Beach $35.00 / night
  • Wright's Beach Premium $45.00 / night
  • Willow Creek $25 / night
  • Pomo Canyon $25 / night
  • Extra vehicle: $8.00 / night
So thats a good start and there must be over a hundred nice parks up the coast in Hwy 1. Ocean Cove near Jenner is another good private one and there are more state parks before and after that one. Manchester SP was closed last year but Manchester KOA is a good option. Further up the coast after Fort Bragg theres Westport Beach RV (private) and Union Landing SP (3 seperate CGs) where Ive always been able to find sites.

Theres are just a few along the route. A simple google search will reveal many in between. During the summer these fill up but this time of year its easy to find openings and the north coast is a nice journey/destination any time of year.
