Hello,
I am new on here. My name is Lita. I'm 58. My husband & I are contemplating which RV to buy. Is it best to have one that detaches from a vehicle? Do the ones with engines typically have maintenance problems? We are truly new to this.
Thank you for any feedback.
Lita

Lot of variables.
Are you going to live in it full time? Or snowbird half the year?
Or just going to camp weekends, the 2 of you?
How far are you planning on traveling?
I've had travel trailers, a fifth wheel, and 2 motorhomes.

Had travel trailer, started having to work on the road, kept getting bigger trailers until I finally got a fifth wheel. Then a diesel pusher.
I like the motorhome I have now the best of all I've done.

Depends on your needs now and the future, for us the Class C was best for the family since we move often during vacation max 7 days since still working. Same unit for 20 years, useful size moving towards empty nester. No need to tow and easy to drive, a large van with living space built around it. Ford E450 gasser plenty of power easy to work on. If you are handy and like DIY, have good tools - rarely need dealers maintenance & repair, they take too long and IMHO services usually not as good compared to what we can do. If you are concern about mpg, fuel prices, repair costs - highly recommend a minivan with tent and stay in hotels. By the way minivan, tent, and staying in hotels costs less but not the same RV lifestyle.

Depends on type of camping and how often and space needed. There are advantages to pulling and then unhooking to drive where needed. Cost comes into play as well…..in other words, how much are you budgeting in other words. Many factors to consider.
