While traveling west on I-40 in Arizona, a Dodge Charger zipped by us and threw something from his tire that smacked the windshield. The results can be seen in the picture. This is our 4th windshield. I immediately asked the wife to find a glass shop in the next town. She found Joe's Glass and Locksmith in Winslow. She called and explained our situation and asked if they could help. Joe's said they would have to look at it first. Wife asked if they had room for our bus towing a truck. Just so happens there is a large lot across the street. Thirty minutes later we pulled into the lot and 30 minutes later, the crack was repaired for $50.00. This included cleaning the entire windshield. :)
There is a noticeable speck but, only if you know where to look.

Geez.... rotten luck with windshields!!! For future reference (and for others). Based on experience, I was told to cover the crack with scotch tape to keep it clean for repair in the future.

We were on the road less than an hour before it was repaired. The glass tech used a diamond burr to clean out the crack prior to injecting the resin.
I agree tape would protect it.

We are going on Wednesday to have our windshield replaced. It cracked vertically top to bottom.

I'm either going to Arizona or Oregon (Glass Solutions) for replacement this summer...work a trip into the deal 😉
