Every once and awhile I have the need to write up a document of some type or make some written notes. A lifetime ago my desktop or even my laptop had some type of word processing program. Now, except maybe for the first year, it seems there are fees for maintaining such a program.

Anyone know of any free simple word processing programs. Not wanting to publish a novel, just make and print a list or letter on occasion.

Google Docs

Thanks!

If you use Mac they have their own free apps too.

For ~$10/mo I get access to the entire Microsoft Office suite for 5 users along with 1 TB of cloud storage each. Each year I get enough use out of Word, Excel and even PowerPoint to make it worthwhile (to me at least).

If you prefer to install software locally versus using a cloud-based solution (like Google Docs), you might want to check out LibreOffice. It's open source and completely free to use. I've been using it for years.

Don't forget Notepad is still provided in Windows.

I downloaded LibreOffice and it looks promising! Thanks.
