We just purchased our first RV and I need a good GPS. We are hoping to go all over the US/Canada so we need one that will have full coverage. Also plan routes to avoid low bridges, etc, find nearby campgrounds, dump and gas stations, restaurants, etc.

Garmin but don't believe everything it tells you to do! ;)
We also check Google Earth and Google Maps.

Quick question?
Do you have CarPlay in your vehicle? If so, you can't beat the GPS map from your phone to your screen. No matter the type, Android or IOS, you can follow with RV Trip Wizard on one screen and with a quick touch, change back over to your Google Maps to check, verify if you'd like. IF you are going to a remote area, RV Triop Wizard allows you to download the map of the area you are going to.
And guess what, no additional charge, no more screens on your dash. I've seen video's with 2-3 different screens on the dash. Just have to chuckle as to what all that really has to do with getting you to your destination fast, safer or cheaper.
Works great for me. I'm sure I am about to hear reasons why my idea is not so great.

OK, fire away!!

I’ve been on the Beta-test team for Garmin and have tested the last several units; the latest being the 1095.

I can honestly tell you there’s nothing better. I’ve used it, in the portrait mode for a couple years now. While NO GPS or NAVIGATION system is flawless, the functionality and overall operations of the 1095 are as good as you can get.

we like our 1095, but we also use our phones as we find the 1095 will always chose the long way around even if the route is more challenging to navigate. We keep our our phones handy with Waze,Gmaps, and Apple Mapping as additional check points.

Just to re-emphasize what I said...

The Garmin mapping isn't perfect. HOWEVER, despite any and all conflicts using an "automotive" gps routing, Apple/Google/Waze, I will ALWAYS defer to the Garmin since it is the only one programmed with my coach's parameters of length, height, and weight.

Yes, the routing engine and mapping of HERE, (used by Garmin) can lag behind the big 3 in terms of "new routes or roads". But, rarely will it put you on a road that isn't capable of a 45ft long, 13ft tall, 65k pound beast!

Another tip is that any time I'm not quite sure of a new route, I'll review a satellite map using Google or Apple. And...guess what you'll find the majority of the time? Yup...OTHER TRUCKS OR BUSES! That's my "cheat"...cuz even if I can't tell what the road is like, if there are other trucks and buses on it, then I'm comfortable taking it.

Another for Garmin RV gps units…

That said the wife also keeps other items up - Apple, google, Waze, etc just to check overall. As stated the Garmin has the specs for the coach so it should not route via low bridges, etc.

We also use inRoute - application for planning and connects to car play or just the device for routing. This also has the configuration for the coach - height, weight, etc. like that much better than RV Trip Wizard and it is about 1/2 the cost.
