Semi Trucks and Speed

Things are already improving. The states that canceled the gifted CDL and now are requiring testing have already helped.

This summer should be much better driving with real professionals behind the wheel.

Most fleet rigs are limited to 70 mph

there are plenty of independent trucks without the limit.

We see an abundance of cattle, grain, and other farm related in the west and south central US. These trucks appear to prefer 80mph no matter what the weather is.

Here on the East coast of Florida we are regularly passed by Semi trucks doing well over 70-75 mph. We travel 65-68 mostly in the DP depending on the road. Sometimes 62-65 on tougher roads. I95 is treated as a Super Hi-way by most travelers.

In hilly country, semis go as fast as they can downhill so they can make it up the next hill. It is not unusual to see a semi going over 85 MPH on a hilly interstate like I-81.

Swift trucks had been governed at 60mph most company trucks 65-70. O/O (owner operators) as fast as we want

And even with that limit in place they are still the worst truck drivers on the road.
