Question Finding Parts for our 1989 Lesharo

Long story short, my fiancé and I got a 1989 Winnebago Lesharo from a vacant property that used to be a hoarder’s house. The property also had two other Winnebago Itascas in varying states of torn-down or worn-down so my BIL took the one in better condition. We plan on taking the A/C Unit from his and installing it on ours, but that’s for a different day.

The Lesharo in question needs some interior cleanup, a roof reseal (naturally), some new brakes, and a few little things under the hood: basic fluid changes, new serpentine belt, and some loose wiring that needs to be tidied up. I’ve also read online that some Lesharo/Itasca owners chose to swap the stock engines with 3800 series V6 motors from Buick, an engine swap this lil guy has too.

The reason I’ve come here today is in hopes that some of you know where I can find parts. My usual websites for cars (RockAuto,EbayMotors) don’t carry parts for Winnebagos, and parts stores don’t recognize the VIN even though I verified it through NHTSA’s website. Winnebago’s website is no help since they don’t have vin search and going through each individual model is a slog.

If anybody has any knowledge on maintaining these old Winnebagos I’m all ears. We’ve got a long road ahead of us (pun intended) so any advice is greatly appreciated.

You need to identify the maker of the chassis. Most likely GM or Chevy as you mentioned a V6 Buick. The chassis has a model number and that will tell you what parts to buy.

A quick Google reveals that your RV was based on the chassis of the Renault Trafic commercial van. The van was not sold in the US so that's probably why your VIN will not decode.

There is probably a LeSharo owners forum out there.
