What's leaking?

I was cleaning the rig and noticed this dark fluid coming out from around a couple of the lug nuts. Anyone have any ideas what this might be?

I think it's from the grease seal.

If you have had the tires off they sometime spray oil on the studs and lug nuts. Otherwise I would suspect the axle bearing cap gasket.

Yup, looks like an axle seal. Luckily it’s an easy and inexpensive fix. Might want to consider doing the other side at the same time

When mine started leaking it was an axle seal.
It’s not coming from the lug, but from the hub cap.
Pull the hub cap off and check. If it is leaking it’s not too hard to fix. No jacking required.
Any truck repair shop can do it. If they don’t replace the seal and just use Sealant, all do it that way. The seal a Lowe’s the axle to shift on the hub. And they torque the bejesus out of it.

Lug nut and wheel studs should never be lubricated.

Just changed mine. You don’t want ti drive that very far (not more than a few miles) I had a mobile mechanic come out to replace mine. You will want to call around and find who has the seals.
