Tow behind suggestions

So after having my class A motorhome for a couple months, wife and I are looking at what vehicle we can pull with it.

I have gotten numerous answers online and they kind of vary widely.

My rig is a 2001 Bounder 31W on a Ford chassis and engine (6.8 L). GVWR is 20,500 and GCWR is 25,500. I would like to flat-tow it if at all possible.

Does anyone have any recommendations for a reliable, used vehicle that I can flat tow with?

I have heard that I need something that is a manual trans so I don't screw up the transmission...

Any help would be greatly appreciated. TY

I have the Ford F53 chassis as well with the Titan V10. I flat towed a 2door Jeep Safari for a while. Towed great took it from Tn to Ak with no problems. I now have a 2024 Chevy Colorado 4x4. It tows great as well.

Hello and welcome. I own a 2020 HR Admiral 32S (F-53). I say get a Wrangler if you need a 2 door, 4 doors could be a Wrangler and an (up to '19) Explorer. See what eTrailer shows for tow bars. I am leaning for the Explorer, since I need the seating.

Just remember F53 chassis towing capacity. I’m close with my Colorado at 4500lbs. My max is 5000lbs for my mh.

F-53 Chassis Weight Ratings & Limits

• • 16,000 lb GVWR Chassis: Features a 23,000 lb GCWR, allowing a maximum trailer/towing capacity of up to 7,000 lbs (when the RV is not fully maxed out to its GVWR). [1, 2, 3, 4]
  • 18,000 lb GVWR Chassis: Features a 23,000 lb GCWR, providing a standard towing capacity of 5,000 lbs. [1]
  • 20,500 lb / 22,000 lb GVWR Chassis: Features a 26,000 lb GCWR, typically limited to a 4,000 lb to 5,000 lb towing capacity depending on how heavily loaded the coach is. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • 24,000 lb / 26,000 lb GVWR Chassis: Features a 30,000 lb GCWR, allowing a towing capacity around 4,000 lbs to 6,000 lbs depending on the actual scale weight of the motorhome body built on top. [1, 2, 3]
