As of yesterday, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, and North Carolina are confirmed shortage of fuel.

This morning I had a situation in NC where my employees where unable to get fuel along the highway. Planning ahead and driving into some smaller towns about 30 miles off highway and they did not have a problem. This will get worse as people panic and start panic buying.

The cause of this is a fuel pipeline that has been shutdown. This is the major supply of fuel for the entire eastern US. Parts of the eastern us have local storage that is being depleted now, and the race for time is how soon will the pipeline come back online.

You can search your favorite sources for "Colonial Pipeline" to get news.

The official page is: https://www.colpipe.com/news/press-releases/media-statement-colonial-pipeline-system-disruption

The hack of the pipeline is an issue, but the panic buying that has been taking place since the weekend is the real problem. It’s toilet paper v2.

I talked to my Aunt yesterday in NC and she said they had no gas. Thanks @redbaron for posting the travel warning.

Saw this online today...

Reading the press release, the average "Joe" has no concept on just how involved running a pipeline is, the steps taken for security (walking 5000 miles of pipeline and aerial patrols), routine maintenance and all the agencies involved moving the fuel from refinery to the retail outlet. And that not considering what the risks are if someone makes a mistake...or worse sabotage...Yikes...

Colonial Pipeline has just announced re-opening of the Pipeline. Stated it would take 3-4 days to return to normal!
Have a close friend that works for them and closely involved in the situation.
He told me yesterday that they are operating valving and flow manually, and should be operational today, and it happened!
Now all these hoarding fools just need to relax!?

Wonder how that chick with the plastic bags of gas is doing? How long does it take for gas to eat through a plastic bag? :)

And this guy ...

Reactions: ARD
And how could those gas stations LET those people fill plastic tubs and plastic bags?

Saw this on an EVRV thread today. Funny.
