Recently bought a 30’ Winnebago as my first motor home. Now have to decide on a toad. I heard a couple guys at the Tampa RV show talking about just renting a car at their destination vs towing their car across the country. We live in SC and are planning more than one cross-country trip to the western states.
Anybody out there who rents their car instead of towing, or used to?? What are pros and cons??

My only comment is that out here in the west, you can't always find rental cars nearby. West of the Rockies, it is the land of wide-open spaces.

I can go on forever on the topic of renting cars. I would describe it as a hassle period. I did it for the first two years of owning a coach. I used enterprise and yes they come get you but you might wait two hours before they show up. Okay you got a car and by the way you are looking at ~ $100 per minimum even for economy for 6-7 days. Then you have return it get a ride back. By the way most are closed Sunday Except airport locations and not in many airports. like TJ says west of Rockies not a lot of options. Then there is insurance on the car etc etc etc. you probably get my drift. It might be great for some and not great for others. I was happy when I got a toad. I can tell you that much.

Thank you for your input. All of that was kind of what we were thinking and you confirmed our suspicions. Matt
