Facebook marketplace always has many RVs listed. They probably won't be knowledgeable sellers.
Thank you for responding Tileman! Unfortunately I do not associate with social media yet but I'm considering it when I go on the road. I'm so happy you brought that up though. Blessings to you and your family!

There are rigs out there with good bones, the more careful you are the better your results. Even though the private sellers you dealt didn't have the deep understanding of their rigs, it will be miles away from what you will see in a dealer. Many sales people will know nothing about the used rigs especially around how it was maintained.
I would also canvas family, family fiends, church, any network you have contact with. You may find someone looking to move a rig not being used. People do age out of rigs.

Thanks so much. I love the input with the utmost gratefulness. I have turned down a handful so far because of the opinions of my community. Also I'm not unwise to the normality of casual sellers. Grateful for my family to teach me the ins and outs of of vehicles. I have a rig in prospect tomorrow, I hope I've narrowed down the normal issues with the phone call so the trip will be worth it. So grateful for THIS community. ?

Hey Vhuerta800, how did the rig look?

People never talk about the real issues with it on the phone of course. The engine sounded very sick when I test drove it, shocks looked super worn, soft spot on top of the roof when I walked up there, and the back right corner had some structural issues, inside had a weird musty smell, and the generator had way more hours on it than he mentioned on the phone. So, my search continues.

Well, you didn't get an RV this time around. But it sounds like that a good thing! Really would have sucked to find all of this AFTER you owned it!

Yes! I'm trying to be very thorough when I see the motorhomes in person. It honestly has taken at least an hour going through everything when I check them out. I have a couple more that I have my eye on. Waiting for a call back about one! ?

Hello! Well my RV searching has been frustrating and tiresome. Went to look at 2 so far and the owners didn't even know a thing about them let alone if everything functions, all contrary to their listing and conversations over the phone. I shouldn't have to spend hours tinkering with their motorhome just to find issues they didn't even know they had. Craisglist and RVTrader have been my sources. Any advice or guidance would be much appreciated toward a more reputable site with knowledge owners. Thanks and have a super day!
Still looking, call me 321999 4555. 1999 Dutch Star. Great condition. Everything works perfectly. Complete records from day one
