Any other thrifty campers here?

We spent a lot of money on the necessities for our last rig, and plan to keep it simple for the new one. Obviously most of the vital camping stuff will carry over to the new rig (tank flush kit, dishes/silverware/kitchen items, etc) but there are things we need for the new trailer like queen bed sheets, a coffee pot, pots and pans that we are considering hunting thrift stores for.

Thoughts? What's the best "thrifty" item that you have picked up for your rig?

My wife bought a 12" cast iron fry pan for $10 at a thrift store. We 'gave away' all of our cast iron cooking items at the living estate auction when we downsized to go full-time. Big mistake! We found non-stick fry pans last about 1 & 1/2 years when used daily, our old cast iron lasted 35-40 years (and some was older!).

I love cast iron! Definitely need at least one pan for the trailer. :)

You bought a new camper, don’t stop now! :)

believe in buying once. That said.

I use a stovetop expresso maker from IKEA
burr Coffee bean grinder from china that looks more like a commercial one but uses a motor only slightly larger than a sewing machine motor.
Tea kettle from Bed Bath and beyond that has no user breakable parts, ball and screen take place of lever that typically breaks.
Portable induction cook top to use on hot days outside, keeps inside much cooler.

We travel for temp to keep our energy cost minimum, brick heater saves on money for generator use/size of solar required.
Oh, least I forget. When we got our latest RV we got memory foam mattress. This big mistake required fixing. adding a 2" latex topper saved tossing an uncomfortable mattress. Before you replace you mattress try a latex topper.
