After my EAA AirVenture airshow stop I'm hoping to go to CO and explore. I have to start looking at reservations but if anyone else is planning on RVing in that area that time frame speak up and maybe we can meet up somewhere.

Book now as many parks are full already as I tried to get a res in Spearfish, SD, and nothing was available for the dates I was going to be there. Polson, MT is already getting close to full. Presumably, the same trend exists in Colorado parks.

We will be at Centennial RV Park in Montrose, CO north of Ouray on Sept 3 for 7 nights and then Kebler Corner in Somerset, CO for 7 nights.

We will be at Tiger Run for 11 days Aug 8, then River Run in Granby, CO for a 2 weeks and finally Wolf Creek in Pagosa Springs for a week. We really want to check out Colorado, finally. Would love to meet up!

Rats Neal🤨 We were going to do that area in September, but on our current trip to the south, we have developed some glass issues, so will be headed to Oregon instead to get all fixed. However, thatis a gorgeous time of the year on the coast, so all is not lost. I would have EVEN made you a pineapple pizza, if you had supplied your preferred toppings. Lol, Judy D

Are you aware of the RV Fog Doctor in Arkansas?

We are. They, as with virtually all other window repair facilities, will not repair the ”frameless” windows. They will only replace. We have talked to them. I would have to order them and have them shipped to them. I would love to find a source other than Newmar.

And now, back to the original thread topic-Colorado in September………

Canyon View RV Resort in Grand Junction is a new and looks to be a very nice resort. We drove thru it last September when we were staying at Palisade Basecamp RV Resort for the Wine Festival.

Reservations made, few were down to last few sites remaining. Was thinking I was too late but got in. Now have to figure out 2023 Winter to FL.

Where and when will you be staying south of Montrose? Drive the million dollar hwy to Silverton in your truck prior to going in the motorhome. Just a suggestion.

Early September. I've been warned by @ARD not to drive MDH in the MH so I'll have to look at an alternate route as time nears. I do plan to check it out in the car. I think I drove something similar in western VA not long ago :(

I drove from Silverton to Ouray where I was on the lane next to the mountain. Going from Ouray to Silverton you will have a 100,000 ft drop off or it looks that far. We'll be in Centennial, south of Montrose Sept 3 - 10. Hopefully we can meet up somewhere.

@Neal

Are you going to attend the International in Rock Springs this year?

No, I'm at Newmar the week prior (11-15) then heading to Oshkosh, WI last week of July for the AirVenture airshow, then to CO from there.

It seems there is no way from Ouray to Pagosa Springs other than million dollar highway. I guess I'll have to do it and just do it slowly. Camera on of course :(

Man up! o_O

Neil, I was talking to a friend of mine about your dilemma regarding the Million Dollar Highway and he said going through Telluride would add 80 miles but the time would be about the same. Just something more for you to consider.

Thanks! While the route to Pagosa Springs is longer mileage wise deviating significant southwest it's probably the same in time and much safer. I'll definitely look at that. I may also look at canceling or shortening Ouray and going to Telluride instead.

While in the area, Ouray/Silverton/Telli, do not miss taking the time to go up onto the Alpine Loop, brochures and tentals in town (good tires a must, 4WD preferred). If you don't have 4WD or prefer not taking your vehicle on rough terrain, rent a jeep locally and do it (you'll thank me for it). You're on top of the world, spme ofbthe best scenery Colorado has to offer. Numbers of old mines and mining towns and the scenery can't be beat! You'll wonder how in the hell that got all that equipment up there. One of the best day trips is Ouray to Telluride over Imogene Pass and back, or visa versa. It is technical in some areas but, not overly so, any smart guy can figure it out (you won't need a winch for any of this). Best if you can enjoy this with another vehicle just in case something unforeseen does break (happens to not only motorhomes). Google Alpine Loop in Colorado. Many YouTube videos. Caution: Do not go down Black Bear Pass unless you are an experienced 4-wheeler or you really enjoy living on the edge. I am, but don't enjoy the edge anymore. People go down it all the time but, I don't enjoy off-camber 3-wheeling. If you don't have a second vehicle and would really like to go, get in contact and see what my calendar looks like. I may drive over to accompany, it's been a few years and need a good excuse to go back again.

We'll be in Colorado Aug 14-Sep 18E7C839D9-B8A6-4F4B-BD53-1A2519B603E4.jpeg
