fired the coach up today, supposed to go to dealer tomorrow to fix the slide out and I get a DEF concentration high warning on the dash. Having second thoughts on Newmar, we haven't went anywhere since picking it up and have a broken slide and now the DEF warning, I miss my F450

That is a bummer. That's not Newmar, you'll need to call Spartan to see what the course of action is.

waiting for a call back from spartan, I've put less than 40 miles on this rig

Is the DEF warning recurring? Have you looked to see if your coach is giving any other codes? I suspect you should be able to scroll through on your dash, I can on my 2019. Last year I was lucky and my coach through 3 DEF related codes while parked in my RV shop. Coach-Net was summoned by Spartan, Spartan overnighted a new DEF head and had Coach-Net send a mobile tech to my place the next day to replace the head. Coach-Net called me 4 times throughout to update and verify service had been performed to satisfaction.

Are you waiting for the electronic dash to fully boot up? Once you turn on the ignition to the first stop and before starting, pause until you have no other lights of messages appearing (approximately 20-30 secs), then when you are sure the dash has booted, then start engine without depressing accelerator pedal.

I was starting up to run for awhile, ran about 10 mins before the warning came on

Allow the Marine in the room to ask a couple of obvious questions: How long has that DEF been in the tank, and have you tested it?

I'm curious of the odometer reading. I read recently a 2022 or 23 New Aire DEF head failed at 3K miles.

We bought it on Halloween, 236 miles on it, its a 2023, not sure when they would have filled it, I assume when we picked it up. I've had DEF diesels for 10 years, never tested my DEF, still waiting on a call back from Spartan, what terrible customer service, tried calling 3 times, not impressed, probably have to call Coach-net roadside assistance in the morning

I do keep a refractometer. I check it after the coach has been stored for 2 months or more. Our coach throws codes willy nilly. Has never derated. New Nox sensor didn't help. Now it's going in to cummins for SPN 3216 FMI4
I sure hate this DEF stuff. They say my 2014 does not have head problems. I think you will be fine but geez 41 miles! I'd be upset also. Good Luck.
