He’s riding a hand-me-down beater and hasn’t had a new bike since I bought him a kid’s bike years ago. So….Spesh Rockhopper for his 13th. I think he’ll be pleased. Also the MIPS equipped helmet will allow his mom to “follow” his rides ;^]

Good stuff. What do you mean about MIPS being able to allow mom to follow?

Its actually the ANGi module I was referring to, not MIPS. I’m new to all this gadgetry. And apparently it doesnt allow tracking per se, just crash notification. Its the Ride app that allows tracking.
But its somewhat (or entirely) mute now anyway. The pic is his mothers b-day present to him - her version of good parenting I guess. You can see the bike I got him in the background. Barely. I’ll go pick it up later today and fix whatever is wrong, for what thats worth.

Well Rich, I thought it was a nice gift. I would have been thrilled with a bike like that when I was 13.

throw an air tag on it and mom can track it.

if worried about it getting stolen, I would recommend one of these. Air tags are easy to find and remove. this one bolts to the bottle cage with special security screws and the tool is not readily available.

I have them on all my bikes, I have a few high-end gravel and road bikes as I ride about 40,000 miles a year (no that is not a typo)
