FYI For those that want to understand engine oil and differences

The video explains the additive packages and how the new Valvoline package differs than the old package and why. Just has interesting information about how and why these packages are used. The big takeaway for me was that Valvoline has the only oil R&D and testing facility in US. Mobil may have...

    Question 2024 Dutchstar fuel economy

This all comes down to how accurate does the calculation need to be. Our last pair of fill ups were from the same pump at Loves, same time of day approximately. Using same fill technique. Probably as close to accurate as I need to be. That said, the number I watch is the average mpg. If there...

    Dimming the KIB controlled lighting?

Sometimes with KIB switches, at least in my DSDP, if you hold the switch for several seconds the lights will dim gradually.

    Oil change interval confusion

In my opinion for a vehicle with minimal use, it is important to follow a calendar rather than miles. Oxidative stress and moisture is more of a factor than anything else. That said we change oil and filters based on the calendar recommendations by Cummins and Newmar. This is especially...

Question 2024 DutchStar head light bulb replacement LED

Ended up purchasing and installing Fahren bulbs. They seem to work well. Fitment not an issue. Went right in.

    Question 2024 Dutchstar fuel economy

The Fuelly app is a smart phone app. Installed on an iPhone. I use the free version. Works for me. Tracks miles, economy, expense, etc. The average mileage is simple calculator math. Record each fuel stop numbers. Simple. The real test will be going to the Rockies this summer. Don't expect...

FYI Odd 2024-01 Windows 10 security update version 22H2 (KB5034441) that just will not install

Yes backup your data and create a Recovery USB as I have....just in case:)

FYI Odd 2024-01 Windows 10 security update version 22H2 (KB5034441) that just will not install

For those of us that use Windows, there was a security update posted in January 2024 that just will not install. It is due to the size of a Partition that is not big enough. There is a "fix" for this that is detailed by Microsoft. It is a manual fix. Command "CMD" level coding that fixes the...

FYI For those that want to understand engine oil and differences

Here is a great video with lots of discussion of oil and engine deposit cleaning. This video led to a new appreciation for Valvoline oils.

    What’s the digital gauge

Clearly aftermarket add on. Have you looked for a Bluetooth signal? Possibly some type of weight or level system or tire pressure alarm. Trailer sensor? Of course none of this makes sense with lights turning off signals.

    Question 2024 Dutchstar fuel economy

Real world fuel economy appears to be improving with time here in the flats of Florida with Flex in tow.

FYI Crane has arrived at new storage facility

Full climate controlled, full bathroom with shower, 50 amp RV service, and should be enough room for RV and Toad. Storage above bathroom. My goal is a comfortable space with room to work and relax.

Clearer pictures of space. Working on details of epoxy floor covering.

FYI Example of bad Campground Wiring

Not sure of your relationship with Campground management but don't imagine they will be happy with you disassembling the power box.

Question Spartan Chassis steering wheel play ~1 in

Yes, I've been speaking with Barry at JoSams in Orlando. His shop will do the work on June 5.

Question Spartan Chassis steering wheel play ~1 in

Headed to a local truck chassis shop to see what can be done if anything. It is that annoying to me. At the same time, alignment check, wheel balancers of some sort, steering component mechanical review as well as a general inspection of chassis nuts and bolts torque. Getting prepped for trip...

    CENTRAMATIC Dynamic Wheel Balancers!

My understanding is the Centramatics use metal beads and syn oil whereas MasterBalancers used a heavy 'metal' viscous fluid. The CanyonStar Centramatics did make a swishing noise at low speed, seems to confirm the metal bead/oil material used in the balancer.

    CENTRAMATIC Dynamic Wheel Balancers!

We have used Centramatics in the past with good results. Our local truck chassis shop, JoeSam, sells a competitor brand Balance Masters which appear similar to Centramatic wheel balancers. And experience with Balance Masters? https://balancemasters.com/motorhomes.html

Question Spartan Chassis steering wheel play ~1 in

Is it normal to have some play, about an inch, between left and right steering input on a Spartan K3 chassis? I find it rather annoying in gusty conditions to maintain a straight path down the road. The CanyonStar, after some modification (OK Alot) and an alignment, drove much like a sedan. Very...
