Here is a great video with lots of discussion of oil and engine deposit cleaning. This video led to a new appreciation for Valvoline oils.

ANY oil manufacturer could take you into their own R&D facility and show you what they want you to believe.

They are talking about oil that cleans deposits. I am wondering how they got it to clean in a vertical line if it was circulating in the engine??

Time limited on video watching today so if I may ask, do they say their detergent additive package differs somehow from "everyone else" uses?

The video explains the additive packages and how the new Valvoline package differs than the old package and why. Just has interesting information about how and why these packages are used.
The big takeaway for me was that Valvoline has the only oil R&D and testing facility in US. Mobil may have a lab in some other country but was surprised Valvoline is the only one here.

The details and testing of these products has always been of interest to me.

Random pouring of additives in an engine oil or fuel can lead to serious unintended consequences with the newer engines.

Also, when these companies work with MFG and the MFG recommends a product it is much more than just marketing. The oil is tested with the MFG metal combination (Rings, Block, bearings), metal finishes, operation specs and tuning to insure it works as intended.

The Oil Geek is a ring material specialist (Consultant) among other things.

Cummins has recommended Valvoline Oil also Diesel Clean (not Valvoline product.)

Both of the products I use for my DutchStar. Just my choices, not endorsing the use of these products.

ANY oil that meets Cummins CES20086 spec is suitable for use in Cummins engines.

Glad to see when people don't follow the herd!

Many oil producers can formulate oil to the spec in their labs.

Just to be clear! An engine lab, can service special interest groups wanting an edge! You know! Racing circuit that might pay for research,and don't give a damn about factory specs!!!

Anyhow! It is a good tool for increasing sales! Just saying!!!
