Our bikes are around 60lbs (Specialized Tero) but they enable me to take longer rides and still get back to base in reasonably good shape without a struggle. I search for camping areas near trails and take as many 10-20miles rides as possible. The real limiting thing for me is that my hands get...
If I were to use one, and I won't! I would use the kind that has a receiver at both frame rails.
Although it is more trouble to deal with I pull a harbor freight tools trailer behind my fifth.
I still haul very little weight, but failure of a tray can kill those unfortunate enough to be...
If it has a hitch receiver, I don’t see how a bike rack could be an issue; assuming you’re talking regular bikes and that you aren’t near the weight limit.
I've seen a couple pickups with bikes standing up on/in the bed. They could be hand made but question if there are there bikeracks for use in the bed of pickups?
We enjoy the Rad Runner e-bike(s). Bikeracks designed to carry heavier e-bikes were really pricey so I opted for a motorcycle carrier. And actually got the Harbor Freight version. With a little fabrication (alteration) this carrier handles the e-bikes just fine. So for less than $150 I have...
I’m not sure the type RV you have but I have see front mounted receivers and you can put a rack on the front of your truck or possibly motorhome. I’ve never used one. We are still thinking about e-bikes and I may go this route for hauling the bikes.
Selling my 2016 Chevy Spark. 21,000 miles, 5 speed transmission. Road master base plate with 6000lb Falcon AllTerrain non binding tow bar. Trailer hitch for bike rack, Two months old diehard battery. $12,000
I just purchased a 2017 Shamrock Roo 233s. The rear bumper seems very sturdy and currently has a spare tire mount attached with u bolts. Does anyone have experience mounting anything else on the bumper, such as a bike rack or generator rack?
I know in the past a lot of TTs had flimsy frames...
...to fit 2 mountain bikes and 2 road bikes in the garage space, out of the elements and prying eyes while we travel. I’m looking at floor mount bikeracks this week. The supplied tie down anchor points are nice but the floor is very slippery so those are only good for strapping down Rubbermaid...
Make sure your bike rack can handle the weight of your bikes. Know the limits and also do not travel with a bike cover on as I did and nearly took out a Loves fuel truck! Thread on here somewhere.
When I was at Dan's Hitch (Elkhart, IN) a week ago I mentioned how my bike rack has a twist knob that minimizes the movement of the bike rack in the hitch. I noticed that the 2 inch tow bar going into my coach has play in it and wondered how to mitigate that. They mentioned some cuff but as the...
...hold two 65 lb electric bikes then you need to go to a hitch installer and have a hitch welded in place that will take this load.
Most e-bikeracks are not designed for use on a 5th wheel trailer or most motorhomes so read the rack manufacturers load specifications. The stronger ones do...
My “new” e-bike rack that is actually parts from a cheap bike rack I bought used on Craigslist for $40 for the vertical parts, and an old hitch-mounted cargo tray/bike rack I’ve had for years.
The new 29’ers were too big for the tray but I wanted the weight capacity and security of it, so I...
My bikes will ride on a hitch mounted rack on the jeep. That way I can take the bikes with me to trails or other places away from the coach. I’m combining a typical hitch-mount two-bike rack with a hitch-mount cargo rack (probably the same as what you are using for firewood) to ensure its strong...
Either the Thule XT series or the Kuat as these are the top two rocks in the business, I believe. Yakima just doesn't do as good a job as they used to for bikeracks. The Thule is going to be pricey. We use a Thule XT-Pro for our bikes. The Ghule will also accept fat tire bikes.
I’m building a custom rack to hold these bikes. Part of it will be removable and double as a bike rack, all of it lockable. And I will get insurance. My first quote was over $300/year so I like the suggestion above from @NWIP. I’ll also check with a couple others that I use for various things...
