We own the subject line RV. our Norcold 1210M was working poorly at best. We then retrofitted the fridge with a Dutch Aire (Amish) with a new absorption cooling unit in the rear. This has also not worked well mainly because we live and travel often in hot climates

Does anyone know of a 12V compressor styled fridge that can fit in the same space with the heater blower motor below?

I'm also considering having the same company, JC Refrigeration to ship out the retro kit to replace the absorption system with their 12 volt compressor system.

Any thought and/or suggestions?

I did the same change to our 1210IM and it has worked well in temps as high as 105°. A friend with a 2003 Discovery recently did the conversion to a residential fridge from HomeDepot with minimal alterations to the space to make it fit so it can be done. Both fridges, with some disassembly, were moved through the door. There's two electrical outlets behind the fridge, one for the fridge and one connected to the inverter for the icemaker so no extra wiring needs to be done. For the residential fridge, use the inverter outlet so you'll have uninterrupted power when traveling; the batteries are replenished by your alternator.
