I HAVE A 2021 AMERICAN COACH DREAM 45A THE KITECHN SLIDE IS NOT WORKING.IT DID NOT COME ALL THE WAY IN. NOW IT DOES NOT COME IN AT ALL THE SWITCH IS BLINKING 1 RED LIGHT AND 1 GREEN LIGHT. ANY IDEA.

There are different reasons for slide issue's. If you google your problem you can find a troubleshooting guide that should give you things to check.

This is what Google AI returned:

On a 2021 American Coach Dream 45A, the blinking 1 red light and 1 green light on your slide-out system switch typically indicates that your slide controller has registered a motor or synchronization fault on Motor 1, or the system has entered a manual override state. Because the kitchen slide is heavy and stalled mid-travel, the safety mechanisms on the controller are locking it out to prevent uneven binding or damage. [1, 2, 3, 4]
Follow these direct steps to diagnose and bypass the system so you can get the slide safely retracted.

Step 1: Verify the Blink Code Sequence
Look closely at the blinking light pattern on your wall panel or the physical controller box (usually located in an exterior luggage compartment or under a cabinet/bed near the slide): [1, 2]
  • Sequence Mode: On Lippert / Schwintek or Power Gear SlimRack systems, a code is given in flashes. 1 Green blink explicitly targets Motor 1. Count the subsequent Red blinks to find the exact issue. For example, 1 Green and 8 Red flashes mean there is a wire short or a missing signal between the controller and Motor 1. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
  • Alternating Mode: If the red and green lights are rapidly alternating or blinking simultaneously, the system is either waiting to be reprogrammed or is currently stuck in an electronic lockout/override mode. [1, 2]

Step 2: Ensure Proper RV Power & Setup
Before resetting anything, eliminate low voltage—the number one cause of kitchen slide failures on large motorhomes: [1, 2]
  • Start the engine: Make sure the coach engine is running so the alternator can supply a robust voltage (above 13.2V) to the slide motors. [1]
  • Check the brakes: Double-check that your parking brake is fully engaged. [1, 2]
  • Look for binding: Look along the inside and outside of the kitchen slide for any jammed floor molding, rugs, or misaligned exterior gear tracks. [1, 2]

Step 3: Use the Electronic Manual Override
If the slide is jammed and you just need to force it back in to drive, you can electronically bypass the motor limits by initiating a manual override directly on the controller board: [1, 2]
  1. Locate the physical slide controller module (it is a small black box with several multi-wire plugs connected to it).
  2. Look for a tiny, recessed gray button labeled Mode or Override.
  3. Using a pen or a small screwdriver, press this button 6 times quickly, then press it a 7th time and hold it down for roughly 5 seconds.
  4. Release the button once both the red and green lights begin flashing rapidly together. This means the controller is now in override mode and will ignore standard fault safety locks for about 2 minutes.
  5. Go back to your interior wall switch, then press and hold the "IN" button until the kitchen slide pulls completely into the coach. Keep holding the switch for an extra 3–4 seconds after it stops to allow the motors to sync up. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6]
Note: Watch the slide closely as it moves. Because the safety sensors are bypassed during an override, if one side of the slide moves but the other side completely drags, stop pushing the button immediately to avoid warping the slide box. [1, 2]

If you need help visually locating your control board or stepping through the button sequence, you can watch this comprehensive guide on Schwintek Slide-Out Troubleshooting to see exactly how to perform the manual electric bypass.

To help narrow this down further, please let me know:
  • Is the kitchen slide visibly crooked or tilted right now?
  • Does the motor make any humming or clicking noise when you press the button, or is it completely silent?
  • If you can check the controller box, how many red flashes follow the green flash?

AI can make mistakes, so double-check responses

"the blinking 1 red light and 1 green light on your slide-out system switch typically indicates that your slide controller has registered a motor or synchronization fault on Motor 1, or the system has entered a manual override state."

I don’t know I would trust the AI without more feedback to it. If I recall, these American Coach RVs have HWH slides and the AI needs to be told to correct itself.

Have you tried calling American Coach or HWH (assuming it has HWH slides)?

American Coach has a manual for their RVs that you can download from their website, may have trouble shooting in there.
