I am just curious if anyone out there with a motorhome built on the above referenced chassis has had a parking brake issue. My post was moved to the owner site and I didn't get much response from others that have experienced the issue. On another forum I have read several entries. In our case the coach would make a banging sound when starting or stopping between 3 and 10 mph. After much trial and error and expense we finally discovered the problem was the parking brake cable being too tight. After we paid for the repair I found the issue listed on the Ford website. I requested through every channel I can find to be reimbursed for the $450 repair but have been stonewalled at every turn. I have reported it to the NHTSA, Ford (4 different places), Forest River and I have my local Ford dealer (though I did not buy the coach from them) working on our behalf as well. It is not about the money, it is about Ford releasing a chassis with a dangerous issue (some have had to have entire braking systems replaced and even fires from the heat it caused), being aware of the problem, issuing a Special Service Message about it on the website and then refusing to take responsibility and pay for the repair. Our coach had less than 2000 miles on it when we purchased it and it was a problem then that was described as being something else. I know the chassis was used on Winnebago class A's, and Jayco class A's and I am just wondering if others out there have had the problem. Any further ideas about getting reimbursed are welcome as well!

Our rig is on the 2022 F53 Chassis and we have not had any issues with the parking brake.
The single issue we have had with the chassis was a leaking pinion seal. Replaced under warranty with no issues thus far.

If it’s out of warranty and without a recall you’ve got a hill to climb.

Thanks for responding.

Thanks I hear you. If it was a warranty item I would fully understand but it is not. According to the Ford website it is a Special Service Message. SSMs are treated the same as a Technical Service Bulletin which means they have to repair if you bring it to their attention. There is not a single Ford dealer in my state (Washington) that works on this chassis (according to Ford). We were told by Ford to take it to a certified repair shop which we did and submit the bill which we did and they just ignore us. We certainly would never buy a Ford again of any kind if they can't even stand behind a $450 repair. There are way too many other choices. Unfortunately we bought this coach in June. It took us months to find a place to repair it properly and has definitely made us sorry we didn't keep our old reliable one that was 17 years old.

No Ford dealer would work on my Ford Thor MH either. Not even an oil change....Pretty crappy of Ford

Sorry for your problem. Try reaching out to Ford and get a customer service rep to listen. Someone in the company deals with motorhomes. They build too many.
We are heading to a local dealer to have a recall repaired this week. Not many dealers in my area will take in a MH, they claim size of shop. I get it we need more than normal clearance with a door but please. We are on an E450 chassis and still hard to find a place.
I hard one issue take care of in the first year and now this recall.
I do my oil changes, it’s hard to find a place and they over charge.
Do some digging on Fords web site, someone should listen.
Good luck.
But I love the 7.3, it’s a beast.

I have to drive about 200 miles to Rush in OKC to get work done. Not convenient, but they do very good work.

I have spoken to six Ford reps including three at Ford Pro that handles the chassis. Each listened and said I was in the right place for help then I never heard back and they don't answer voice or email messages. I have forwarded my backup invoices and paperwork each time. It has been going on for months. I had to find the service message on their website myself after hours of digging. I have dealt with many difficult companies in my life but this complete lack of customer service is unbelievable... Sign of the times I guess.
