I assume you inserted the Roku stick into one of the TV's HDMI ports and then set that as the input port for the TV. When you turn on the TV do you see the Roku menu? If not, what do you see?
it stays blank. It is connected to the tv in the HDMI and the streaming box, which is plugged in. I dont believe the tv is a smart tv. Is that the problem?
Did you go into the TV's setup menu and select the HDMI port that you have the Roku connected to? Otherwise the TV doesn't know where to look for a signal. The TV has several places where a signal could be connected; you have to "tell" it which one you are using.
If you are using a Roku you DON'T need a smart TV.
I have no idea what you mean by a "streaming box." If you have a Roku you don't need anything else except an internet connection.
