Iis a 48-ft renegade to long to purchase I'm concerned about certain restrictions of length with a 20-ft trailer
 
It depends primarily on the laws of the state it is registered in. The "combination" length varies by state from 60' to 75'. With a 20' trailer behind a 48' coach, you are looking at 68' in combination. If your registration state allows it, I believe all other states will honor it, even if their combination length is less.

Whether or not that length would put you in the CDL category is another question.
