I am having a problem wiring my 7 way plug on my travel trailer. I have bought a Hopkins 7 way plug and the diagram shows that the back side of the male plug has a hump on the top of the plug. Other companies who show the wiring diagram also shows this hump. Is this hump the locking hump on the bottom of the tow vehicle's female connector? So the wiring diagram needs to be turned 180 degrees to work right? Please explain the 7 posts color with their color and code. What I am asking, do I have to turn the plug 180 where the diagram says #1 on bottom versus on the top.

It's a key, so you'll insert the male into the receiver correctly oriented. Simply google 7 pin/way RV plug and you'll see a wiring diagram.
