Addressing Newmar Baggage Door Fitment

I like watching this guy, as he has 25 yrs or so as an RV Tech, and his videos often contain information that hits close to home. In this video, he addresses the problem that many have had (myself included) with Newmar’s baggage doors.

That was helpful….as I have had to adjust the striker to make the storage doors close better, but it would make my paint lines not line up…always had to spilt the different or it would look bad.

Maybe when time allows, I can try to adjust the hinges…something I was not sure how to do…

As with many items on an RV, or any moving vehicle, as you put on the miles, things move around, especially hinged things. After the first year we went back to the factory, Newmar Service Center and had the doors that had become misaligned readjusted. Our main door now shuts and locks easily with just slight pressure.
The salesman "they are all like that, it is normal to have to slam the door hard" is BS. Have the door adjusted by a skilled tech and you will not have an issue.
A basement door became misaligned when a worker at a dealership used it as a crutch, badly bending the hinge. That has finally been repaired at a different facility. Closes easily and smoothly.
This video is a good guide to getting it right.

The salesman "they are all like that, it is normal to have to slam the door hard" is BS.

My tech at FPU said the same thing. He attributed it to how well Newmar seals the basement compartments.

Enjoyable video - nice watching someone else work on these things after spending all day on mine. Also a little insight to the inspection process.
