First time rver. Have been researching 5th wheel rvs.
Couple questions....need your help and advice.
1. Should I purchase a used 5th wheel....say 1-2 years old? Maybe has all the initial problems resolved or fixed.
2. Should I go ahead and purchase a new 5th wheel?....knowing there are likely to be initial issues even though it's new.
3. Regardless of used or new, any suggestions on the best 5th wheel rvs out there?
Thanks.

Obviously everyone in every situation is different.

New if you plan on being around home for awhile and patient to get things fixed that WILL show up.

Used if you want to hit the road with a unit that has been tested and (hopefully) fixed.

But, like a used car, how did the previous owner treat your home.

IMHO.

Just our thought process when we started….

We bought used. Just in case it turned out the lifestyle was not for us would be less of a hit when we sold the RV.

Learned all we could about the systems prior to buying and made sure everything worked properly prior to signing the paperwork.

Used may have been traded in due to continuing issues also so something to think about going through the unit.

Fast forward to December last year and we bought new for our retirement coach. We hired a master certified inspector to go through everything and that punch list went to the dealer prior to pickup. Was nice insurance that everything was ok prior to delivery.

We know there will be some things we need to get corrected with use but the warranty is nice. All the issues we have to get corrected so far are minor.

Research the brand as well. You will find that people normally only post problems and not when they have none. Will give you an idea of things to look for as well with either new or used.

An inspector would be a good recommendation for either new or used. May have to walk away from one depending on what they find but better to do it up front than deal with it later.

Either way floor plan is everything. Make sure the one you find is laid out the way you want.

Good luck with your search and welcome to the lifestyle.

Thanks....very good advice. Never really considered hiring an inspector to go through everything prior to purchase.
