Hello
My name is Flavio, I am from Brazil and I just arrived in Cinccinnati to improve my English in University of Cincinnatti. After this English course, I'd like to buy a used RV and to travel through southern states and cross the Mexican border and head south towords Central America.
I joined this group to learn about RVs and how to live in a RV. I have no experience in this matter other than what I researched.
Tanks for joining

Wow!!!
What a blast from the past!
We welcome you.
I met Yuri in San Diego harbor while we were provisioning to go south via sailboat! He was Brazilian, going home, what a great guy! He was finishing the journey you are just getting started on!

I understand the journey is quite demanding via land, so small and robust may be your best choice for your plan forward! I would be looking for a good short draft sailboat and go by sea in the Atlantic personally, the Panama is just to much to plan for.

THAT sounds like one heck of an adventure, Flavio!
Now.......you need to develop a serious plan for your RV, no matter which one you end up with. If I'm not mistaken, Brazil uses 240 volts AC for household electrical power. Most, if not all, American RV's will be designed for 120VAC power, so about the time you cross our southern border, you'll need to have it outfitted with a power transformer to step from 240 to 120 AC. That would be the simplest method for the RV, rather than a rewire project. You could have the convertor set up as a stand-alone unit, though, rather than build it into the RV. I'm not sure how it would handle 50hz power, though.
How's the supply network for LP gas in Brazil? Something to consider, if you have a difficult time of getting the gas supply for your furnace, water heater, and refrigerator. (Although you probably wouldn't need the furnace much down there.) The water heater and fridge could be replaced with electricic-only options, as well.

That's about all I can think of at the moment.....Roger
