We all know CW’s reputation. However, they have a LOT of RVs so it’s a good place to look and touch many different makes, models, and styles in one place.
We were looking at the Jayco Seismic 399 and the local CW had one, so off we go. The sales kid was typical CW; didn’t know squat about the RV, but was willing to do whatever it took to get my signature before we left. We told him that we’d be back. I had to tell him twice to stop text-bombing me with every single thing that happened in for the next two days.
I am uneasy because of CW’s rep, but this is a nice camper and it hits almost all of our wants and needs.
We took another look three days later. We made an appointment, he had the 399 pulled out and powered up. However, it was never cleaned. The camper was filthy inside. Sawdust, shavings, piss in the toilet (no water hooked up), rubber door bumpers lying around the cabinets. Just unprofessional all around. We left to see one more and now my wife is feeling a bit uneasy about Camping World.
We found a Grand Design at different chain site, but mush smaller chain in the SE U.S. The Momentum 392 hit every single item on our list, but it was more expensive than the Jayco or the Alliance Valor 44V14.
We made a deal with Great American RV Superstores that day. I let the CW and another dealer know that we had bought from a different dealer. The Alliance salesman was cool, but disappointed.
Be low is the text that I received from the Camping World Panama City sales associate.

“Wow I worked very very hard on making this happen guys if that was a problem before I worked multiple days and hours on this why didn’t you tell me before hand . This is how I feed my family guys and I waisted a lot of time trying to get you a deal of a life time but you were shopping me the whole time either way , thanks .”

That evening and the next day he sent about 5 or 6 texts trying to undo the damage. I finally had to tell him that if he texted me again, I was going to his boss and to corporate about his behavior.
I swear, I will never give Camping World another dime of my money and will spread the word about their high-pressure sales tactics, the lack of professionalism, and how they do not even bother to pick up the parts that fall off their new RVs before you look at them.
That company is just awful.

Absolutely infuriating!!!

But why did you give the sales kid your phone number? You told him you'd be back. Trust your gut!

I always give them a phone number. Usually it’s the last sales guy that I was upset at. Sometimes it’s one of my friends. On the rare occasions that I may actually want to hear from them, then it’s a google voice line.

I don’t mind giving my number to sales people “if” we have progressed to the point that I am interested.

My phone has a block feature.:)

Well green and stupid and not in the market my wife and I stopped in to a sorta local (to us) CW to kill some time.
I already had a great truck, that I purchased to pull with, SOMEDAY....
This sales guy was GOOD......
After I told him FIRST and UPFRONT we ain't buying NOTHING today....
He said cool, I can still show you around if you like because the trailers are all locked up.
He started out small and cheap.
As we said no way....
Well OK, if you want spend a little more I have this one, here jump in this golf cart, and off we went.
Yeah, this is nicer, but if I am going to buy one some day, and pay for it for years, I want something nicer.
OK, he said, I am just trying to help you get started cheaper.....
Lets go look at another, hop in, off we went, 3, 4 more times.
By now he had us seasoned and stuffed, and ready to grill.....
He took us to one with slides on both sides, BIGGER than I said I was willing to pull, island sink, a fold out couch and a dinette AND a outdoor kitchen AND a out door barbeque AND a outdoor shower, and a bedroom that had its own doors to close, and all sorts of cabinets that we later found out if we use them like cabinets you have at home, they don't support that kind of weight, buckle, and too, all that storage that seemed to grow with every trip because, well, just because we were someplace new and that barbeque sauce looked good, or that....
To the point that our minimally understructure components were maxed out and........

It sat for MONTHS to be looked at under warranty, and after multiple We can't get to it yet, turned to more months, we finally got a call and they said its not under warranty, etc.

That was all my wife needed.

She BOMBED social media with our plight.

Wasn't long after she got a reply with a attached phone # explaining she was some BIG WIGS corporate secretary, and to please call her.
She did.

The next day, maybe even that day we got a call from the local CW where our trailer sat and they were on it....COOL.

Now, here is where it gets even better, those vendor supplied components supplied by the company EVERYONE knows in regards to trailer stuff, said they would not supply new parts without FIRST Having their tech look to see if it was needed, and why, etc.
Tack on another week or so.
He said after an inspection that is was OUR fault.....and denied it, and CW said we would have to pay for parts.

HOWEVER, a new person had taken over this position that is in charge with their service division and she said BS to this guys findings....and called us and said don't give up just yet. I am getting that jerk back out here and we are BOTH sliding up under your trailer to look at what is wrong and why, etc.

So, after her actually putting this dudes feet to the fire he admitted the damage started with one of the two trailer axles being installed wrong....

We still had to wait for the parts, had to cancel a few trips, lost our deposits, etc....
But it got fixed, we went to pick it up, meeting her for the first time, and thanked her.

We took one more trip with that trailer and traded it in at an RV show with a different dealer that was GREAT, that if anything my wife played him.....
True story, two years had passed, and we were in the same fairgrounds to see a concert and guess what, that same dealer had BRAND NEW trailers on display.
And guess what, the SAME sales dude was there.
We walked into a beautiful trailer and he was sitting inside it, took one look at her and said OMG.....
Not you, I have never met such a tough negotiator as YOU....
I said, HEY, what about me....he looked at me, handed me a couple bucks and said, Go get yourself a snow cone on him....
I got a rainbow one......See I pretty tuff too.

Moral of the story..... I have no idea, but this gal at CW was GREAT too, the salesguy was just good, not a jerk, blame me for being an idiot and expecting him to fix my stupid, but after that, that is all I have to say about CW....

Now who wants to see a picture? :)

This is a spot up and over the Cascade mountains where we fish trout, will be there again this year. No sewers, and tight, but really, when you can look at this.....TITE LINES!
