Our sticks n’ bricks is located just a few miles south of the Canadian border in Western Washington state. On the first full weekend of August each year, our neighbors in Abbotsford, BC, host a major air show and we get some of the benefits without even buying a ticket!

From about Thursday evening through Sunday afternoon, we see a wide variety of aircraft passing almost directly over the house on their way to and from the air show. And, on Friday and Saturday evenings, and Sunday afternoons, we are treated to a private air show put on by the RCAF’s 431 Air Demonstration Squadron, better known as the “Canadian Snowbirds. They just went by in a tight, 9-plane diamond formation a few minutes ago at about 500’ elevation and I swear they weren’t five feet apart, wingtip to wingtip!

I think they use our red 32X40 shop building with a white roof as a marker as they always pass right over it. And, I think they share the information with other pilots because a P-51 Mustang just made a similar pass a couple minutes ago. There will surely be more coming by before dark.

Kinda fun watching the comings and goings over the course of the weekend.

Is this the thing that takes those pictures you have to waive in the air to dry off?
