Anybody with experience towing a Subaru?

I am really interested in towing a true AWD vehicle, Subaru Forester in particular.
2018 Was last year with manual transmission.
Subaru says no.
I know base plates are available for manual transmission models.

Figured it out, bought a new 2021 Crosstrek Premium 6sp.

You might want to read the User Manual Closely. The Flat Tow section 9-16 indicates a Rope Tow scenario with the Key in the ON position. The manual does not indicate that it can be Flat towed behind an RV for long distances.
