Question Anyone fly a FPV Drone?

Looking into a FPV Quad copter for fun and video.
The DJI Avata 2 drone with Goggle V3 looks attractive but also considering a GEPRC Cinelog35 V2 with 03 Air and a Radio Master controller. The GEPRC is more durable, adaptable, repairable, and faster ;-). GEPRC initial expense is higher due to buying each piece separately is a bit more expensive than the DJI but much more flexible.
Thoughts?

Yep, I have two. DJI FPV and Avata. Both are great. This is a good YouTube channel to watch as well as 51 drones but this one I like better.

Watching videos on the Avata 2, looks like a good choice for beginners.

For anyone pursuing a FPV you just have to understand your use case. If you want something to capture cinematic or photographic opportunities on excursions from RV destinations, this is not really the drone to use. This is more for the fun of flying and do things FPV. I'm not the expert on this, just think through why you want a FPV vs. a "camera" drone before purchase.

Isn't there an issue with licensing requirements with a drone over 250 grams? Not sure, but I thought that's why they make the 249 gram Mini series. BTW, love my Mini 4 pro.

Over 250g you have to register it with the FAA.

Requirement of Remote ID for older drones is the biggest issue. I have DJI Mavic 2, over 250g, it was registered (valid for 3 years) now expired. Legally can only be flown in FRIA areas, FAA Recognized Areas which really defeats the purpose of me having a drone. Unfortunately nothing on the market to retrofit current drone to meet Remote ID requirement.

Only choice is go fly and hope for the best claiming ignorance to regulations.

You don't really need to retrofit the drone, my Avata for example requires Remote ID but it's done via the app. In other words, before I can takeoff I have to be connected to my phone so DJI can mark my position I think is what's going on. It's not like ADSB following the drone, although that is probably where it's going, but more so just reporting your location for drone activity I think is how it works.

Careful in the Drone Hot Zones. New England is in the news with all sorts of Drone speculation. Any issue with your drone legality will be examined closely.
It appears to me that there is an effort by some law makers and places to start to ban drones either in specific places or completely.

Flying a FPV drone for a beginner is quite disconcerting. A very myopic view traveling in space with no other sensory input other than visual. It will take some time to get familiar with the sensations experienced, especially at speed.
