I can wait to see AI do my old job and build a complet house all by itself.. and pass code inspections. And deal with customers changing their minds midstream. And deal with weather and material delays. Should be fun.
There was guy in Shenzin, China who laughingly said “ Ha-ha I’d like to see a robot here at BYD do my job and build a car”. A guy at Amazon said “I’d like to see a robot do my job and fill orders, ha ha that’ll be the day” . A paralegal said “ Ha- ha I’d like to see AI do my job, that’ll be the day” A driver for Uber said…..
Otherwise, there may be human carpenters, but there will be such a surplus of labor that competition for those jobs will place extreme downward pressure on wages in what the 17th century philosopher Thomas Hobbes called “ The war of all against all” where life will be “ nasty, brutish and short”.

Show me a video of a robot building a 2 story house with a 2 story deck including electrical plumbing gas and fixtures...cant wait to see it do trim painting , caulking and hardwood floors and 7 stage crown molding
.love to see it. At best AI can draw blueprints and do material takeoff.. and those cars you speak of have humans operating the robots .they dont build an entire car on their own.

Don’t conflate “ symbolic” AI with “ Deep Neural Network” AI. The latter thinks and learns just like you think and learn, it’s only a matter of scale and time. Symbolic AI was linear, deep neural network AI is three dimensional. Think of the Turing Test. Alan Turing envisioned a contest where a computer was in one room and a human in another. If a questioner could not differentiate between the responses then there was no difference in the responders.

Not sure I follow you but that won't stop me from replying b'cuz my intelligence is artificially enhanced by my self appointed importance.....
AI arrives at its destination/task by the process of elimination to achieve the best odds of results, sans memory.......
Which is how people learn and through repetitive activity.
But that doesn't guarantee the right results, as why does a addict continue to self destruct by knowingly repeating the exact same thought and activity over and over again........????
Can't wait until one of those folks program a robot.

"Dude, grab me a beer while you is rolling me a doobie......" :)

Nice!!!

The one barior that hasn't yet been considered In this thread is.

The created does not possess the knowledge, or wisdom of the one that created. The only thing more exaggerated in the created, is likely the ego.
