As I make my way to Gaffney from the nice weather of AZ I'm going to spend a few days in the Atlanta area for a breather. Any suggestions on good CG's?

Question is are you wanting to go into downtown ATL? If stop on NW side of Atlanta you can take the I- 285 around to the NE side of Atlanta but choices are limited. McKinney (COE) at Lake Allatoona is our favorite but just saw it is closed for construction till August. There are places around Lake Lanier on the NE side but haven’t stayed there. Good luck, traffic sucks if going thru Atlanta

I'm not sure, I've been there several times. Probably just looking for a good place for some R&R as I head north east.

I’ve never stayed here but might check this out, heard it’s not bad. It’s on the east side of Atlanta.

Shoal Creek Campground has a lot of nice sites. Some on the lake, some not. No sewer hookup but there is a dump station. I've stayed there several times and we've had a good time. The pictures below are from out last trip and we were in a spot that was almost on the lake. Was pretty cool.

Trish likes to hit the city and shop. Me, I like to hit the sporting shops, etc. Did my first drone flight (over water) at Shoal Creek.

Not sure why they call it Shoal Creek, I've not seen any creeks anywhere.

Personally I avoid Atlanta. I don’t like the stress of driving through. I do like taking hwy 64 out of Chattanooga going through the mountains to I40. I took that going to Charlotte last year. Nice easy drive and things to see and do. You can stop and do some river rafting along the way. Or go to the casino (Indian Reservation).

it will still keep you heading to VA. :)

I'm thinking of going through/around atlanta and going to Auburn for the stop which gets me closer to Charlotte for my next destination and longer stop after. Can't wait to hit the nice breweries in Charlotte and then after a few days back down to Gaffney for my annual then HOME after 8 months on the road which has been good.

How long and when will you be in NC. I am heading in that direction in June.

Charlotte is just a 4-5 night holding before Gaffney. I typically stay at Carowinds and then slide over to Gaffney the eve prior.

Sounds like you will be gone by the time I get down that way. That is as far south as I have been for camping. Never know our paths may cross some where some day. Have fun.
