This is probably not news but these things are good for 7 years, then they time out, start chirping, and flash a yellow LED indicating its time to replace the detector. And naturally this model is no longer available except of course from a few scalpers at around $130. So….what’s everyone doing when these time out? I ordered a couple from Amazon to try (one 12v, one 120v) but I could find nothing that will fit in the original wall opening. I guess I’ll make a cover plate with some ABS and go from there. Other ideas?

Well apparently no one else has had this problem yet (you will when your coach hits 7 years old), but I solved it by replacing the timed out and nearly unavailable OE detector with a $33 random pick from Amazon and just made a new mount plate to make it fit and look more or less correct although the new detector is now mounted sideways. Oh well, close enough, it works, and this was better than rewarding price-gouging by paying $130 for a “rare” OE unit.

Yep I had to replace one years back in our fifth wheel. You did the right thing finding a lower cost one. I guess some charge what they want to, some will pay it.

I especially enjoyed the irony of a company charging $150 for it and calling itself “Integrity RV parts”
