I've been looking for a solution to a hands free option to energize the basement light circuit automatically when the door is opened. Preferably no draw or contact when door is closed. Looked at some very nice proximity switches but the are a constant low draw when lights are off. So an automotive magnetic type is a probable solution. Something like this Amazon.com: Kwikee 379404 Surface Mount Rectangular Switch - Open, Black: Automotive

Any thoughts on a solution? First I'll wire in the existing fixtures but ultimately will go for LED bar lights as I gain experience on where I'd like the light to shine,
