For you folks with travel trailers, how often are you repacking your bearings? When I googled it, I saw even 6000 miles - which seems reasonable to me - or once a year - which seems a little too often, in my opinion.

Our dolly trailer went 5 years, 20.000 miles and bearing grease did not need to be addressed. It was inspected prior to each trip and no indication of bearing leaking grease.
It was stored inside when not in use so minimal thermal cycles except when in use.

However, if it is a boat trailer used to launch boats is a different story. Many opinions on frequent bearing service probably come from the marine folks.

Some travel trailers are hard on bearings. Look for signs of leaking grease. Inside of wheel/tire might give an indication. Inspect regularly.

Proper size and weight rating for your application is very important. Quality bearings and seals are also important. Timken has always been my go to brand for wheel bears.
