Flew in this type aircraft only once when the Constellation was in service back in the 60s. A very visceral experience. Loud, smoky, lots of vibration, startups. Really let you know that this giant was awakening when it literally roared to life.

 
The one that I flew in looked like this

Nothing quite like seeing/hear those big radials coming to life. One, two, tree cylinders starting to fire. Then the burn off of all the oil in the bottom cylinders.
