So the claim process is to have a dealer remove the extension. No mention of covering the damage caused to the tires running without proper inflation.

Imagine that…Newmar taking the path of most resistance between the customer and satisfaction.

We had extensions installed when we bought our 22.

Reading about the ones that had issues it seems to always be the rubber stabilizer not staying in place. This causes the extension to move around, contact the wheel, leak, etc.

Each stop when traveling I make sure our stabilizers haven’t moved.

Two years and they are still in place as installed. I think North Trail did a good job on the install.

I don’t think Newmar installed from the factory which would change the liability for corrections a bit (just my opinion).

this is what the Rv industry has told the consumer.

The truth is Newmar is responsible for the entire unit, including the light bulbs, microwave, spark plug, fuel line, brake pad, etc.

Owners need to stop accepting the industry push back.

I was successful in having Newmar cover every item under warranty and will continue to make claim to Newmar directly for the duration of my 5 year drive train warranty.

Once more owners do this, the industry will react by ensuring better quality.

In many states you also have the right to seek reimbursement for work done that was covered by warranty. This is the route I am going, as it gives me better standing with the process to ensure maximum attention by the stake holders.

This is not a new problem. It happened on my 2016 FL chassis Ventana and very nearly wore through the extension before I noticed it. When I did the stabilized was just hanging on the extension outside the slot in the wheel and the extension had been wearing on the inside of the wheel slot. My remedy was new extensions (around $20) and new stabilizers (around $9 each) and I used VHB tape in the groove on the stabilizer to keep it stuck to the wheel. I still checked them before every driving day but never had the problem again.

Reportedly the stabilizers have been improved and a new version is available. The guys at the FL shop hadn’t heard this but I bought new ones anyway and always carried a couple spares and spare extensions. I explained all this to the new owner when we went over the spare parts bin so he knows to watch them too. If you look at the second pic you can see that it was very near failure when I caught it.

FL Gaffney has the new stabilizers and installed on mine a few years ago, works great. I think it now has a sleeve on the back of the stabilizer that goes down the stem so the stem itself stabilizes it.
