@redbaron … just had a logistical question about calling your roadside service/tire people. You said you were on the phone to both … so in a case like this should you call roadside service first or the tire service policy. Also, once you got it all under control, who took the lead. You said a random tire truck stopped by so does that mean he just saw a need and stopped or was he sent by one of your service providers. Just curious in case I’m ever in the same predicament.

The tires were inspected 2 days prior and 1100 miles prior. All 8 tires inspected by southern tire mart. They suspected another tire, but did not see any visible wear, damage, or checking.

What they did not do is remove and balance as I was not willing to spend money on a rear tire that showed no issues.

That was another mistake. The wear you see and further sidewalk happened after the explosion that was in the tread about 3 inches from sidewalk. When the tire exploded, it stopped spinning and I drug it across lanes before it started to spin and walk off. I then slow drove it until it was evident I was about to be on a rim, and stopped.

None of the things we where told to watch out for where evident except for the shimmy. That is something I knew was a problem but didn’t realize all tires play a role in. Next time I will spend the extra 2 hours to get all balanced and road force tested.
Red Baron....An "FYI"
When I had the "Liquid Spring" suspension installed on my 38' Canyon Star, I had them "TRUE" each of the six tires, and rebalance! They also did alignment! Not bragging, but I must say that the coach rode as smooth as any luxury vehicle, when on good road surfaces! Obviously, bumps are bumps, but what a difference!
The work was done by "JOSAM" Equipment in the Orlando area, close to I-4. One of the few companies, I guess, that even have "tire truing" machine! Fantastic folks to work with too!
Maybe this will help you in the future.
And slow "TPS" reaction would scare the hell out of me...Totally useless....would you agree!

Great question, and even better timing, waiting this long to ask, as my blood pressure has finally dropped.

The tire service policy phone person was worthless. They are geared towards travel trailer. The suggested that I leave the RV on side of road and drive to a tire place. When that didn't fly, they then said they would have to tow us, but could only tow to the selling dealership. I decided to play along until it became evident that is exactly what they wanted to do---keep in mind, i gave them my physical address (Three Forks, MT) and the dealership address (Lewisville, TX), and they where calling for that exact tow--not the one that made sense of 45 miles to a repair station. While I was talking to this company, my son was on the phone with progressive and was getting much closer to getting a tire company on the way, when out of the blue a tire truck pulled up.

I was so very thankful to see him. Even with that support, it took 4 additional hours to get a tire brought in and replaced.

I feel the road hazard warranty is worthless. I will be filing a claim, and do what I can to get reimbursed, but they are not very good at actually helping when there is a problem.

I recommend either CoachNet or your insurance carrier when a problem occurs, and treat the road hazard as the one to fight with after your safe.
