Probably none of you use this item, but just in case, one of mine broke on the last leg of my last trip. It must have been weak and failing for a while judging from the rust, and just finally fell off while driving. Since only one tab on one side fell off, the tow bar was still attached to the jeep on both sides, but still a totally unacceptable issue.

I wasn’t thrilled with these when I got them but they are supposedly rated at 5,000lbs, and the jeep only weighs around 3500. I’ve towed about 13,000 miles with this set-up over the last 10 months.

The solution was to not only re-weld the broken part, but add gusset plates top and bottom. I advised Blue Ox about it and to their credit, they wish to discuss it further.
