We left Cherry Hills yesterday, and we're spending a few days in the Shenandoah National Park before going to Deer Springs. I'm considering driving some of the Blue Ridge Parkway, but am reluctant to drive the 44 ft on the parkway. I still don't understand why we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway. All advice is welcome.

If you have time, stay a night (or more) in Luray, VA. One of my favorite locations.

@Neal, Have you driven much of the parkway?

In the car quite a few times, not in the coach. Find a CG nearby either in VA or NC and then take the toad.

Luray RV Resort and Campground is on the list of potential stops heading North this year.

Follow Neal's advice!! You do not want to put yourself/coach in a compromising situation!
Better safe than sorry, and you will get much more enjoyment of the beautiful scenery, than just watching the edges of the road, and the camera!
Have fun! Good Luck!

Nice lookouts to pull over on that are typically small on the blue ridge. Also in the NC area, check to see if there are any closures from Hurricane Helene, etc.

Greetings all; Our plan is to drive the Blue Ridge Parkway from North to South this October. We, of course, don't want to drive it pulling the towed. We would like to park the Coach at different parks and drive the Parkway in sections with the towed. Has anyone here done this? If so can you recommend a list of accommodating RV Parks? ( Luray RV Resort and Campground is too far North from the start of the Parkway). We plan to Start at Waynesboro and, if possible move the coach south in aprox 50 mile spans. That way we get to see the Parkway from both directions and to and fro allow about 100 miles of travel per day. We think that will allow us a leisurely drive on the PW and be able to best take in the scenery. Comments........

My wife and I and a bunch of friends drove the Blue Ridge Parkway and The Skyline drive many times, by motorcycle. I would not recommend it by motor home. Very slow traffic, hills, and very sharp curves. All your concentration will be on the winding roads. Can you do it sure, will it be fun, not really.

I was main lead in a torrential down pour, with fog so thick you can cut it with a knife. I had over 15 HD motorcycles behind me. I told my second, if you see my tail lights disappear, hit your breaks fast. There are many hair pin turns to navigate.

Just my opinion....LOL

Driven it in a car, a Miata back in the day I won’t drive in the MH. As others have mentioned. Enjoy DS.

The above statements are the absolute facts of the Blue Ridge Parkway and don't forget the SkyLine Drive.
Even if you could drive it, there are some low tunnels/bridges that will not allow you to make some of the trip. Check it out well before driving it!
Happy Glamping!!

Yup! I knew if was not advisable to drive the coach and towed on the B R PW. We will be doing it withe Jeep in sections. We are going to pass on the Skyline Drive this trip.
We are starting from the north using Walnut Hills Campground in Staunton Va as a base. I'm not sure if we will take a ride on the Scenic Blue Ridge Railway. Is it worth the time? Our next base is Dixie Caverns Campground in Salem Va. Then on to Three Peaks Resort in Spruce Pine NC. Then on to Miller's Campground in Laurel Springs NC and the end at Wilson's Riverfront in Asheville NC. We have allocated 2 weeks to visit the areas. I hope that will be enough time.

You should check out Deer Springs, you will not be far from Franklin.
