Typically ~400 lbs., but I wouldn't trust a typical hollow sq. tube bumper to support half that much for long. Keeping in mind too, anything attached to the rear bumper is going to increase the chance for inducing sway and going to catch hell from bouncing.
It is a bumper really designed to do just that. It will handle some load however if overloaded it can stress the frame due to flex. I have seen people who have added a purpose built bumper designed for heavier loads. I totally agree with Holdmybeer's post.
