By not carrying, I Am not a legal test dummy for a Court battle, as I described above. That doesn't mean I won't find myself 6ft below level.

I believe everyone should be intitled to what they do. I also know there are consequences for our choices.

I also know a weapon designed to deter is not designed to kill(not that it can't), therefore could be considered an excelerant in the right condition.

Concur, it's trying to find a balance. We all know it's extremely rare for anyone to need a weapon RVing. I recall the most recent was some murder in Texas I think, so yeah, there are times just like a home. It's also rare that it gets in the way of RVing, and that's Canada and military installations. I would be perfectly fine with no weapon in my RV of any type. The Byrna won't hurt to have. I have a dog, that's deterrent #1.

Fortunately home intruders aren't the brightest bulbs in the batch. If said intruder enters and goes "oh look at the puppy, want a treat?" then I'm screwed.

Anyone know how Canada treats Bryna's? That's the other problem besides famcamps related to weapons in a RV.

Available for sale across Canada so legal to buy/own & carry. Also legal to cross the border, either way. Full details are on the Byrna website. I've been considering buying one even though, as a dual citizen, I'm licensed in both countries. I just can't cross the border with my hand guns so it's a constant exersize to ensure EVERYTHING gun related is removed from the coach.

That is weird because they are very strict about crossing with pepper spray. I guess no weirder than pepper spray=bad and bear spray=good.

I don't own a gun, these however seem like a good idea. If you need a jar of 250 pepper balls though, you may want to look into a different camping spot.

You can cross with the kinetic projectiles, but NOT with the chemical and pepper ones.

Yes theoretically this is a great alternative.
But it looks like a pistol.
You better be quick, and accurate, if assailant is armed you can expect lead coming back at you. If it is between them or us, I'll take my day in Court, thank you.

The decision as a RVer is the ramification of carrying a firearm and limitations that presents. For me it’s the hassle of getting on military installations. For those going to or through Canada you have to deal with that. It takes away some of the freedom to travel. For that it’s an alternative vs nothing.

If a guy comes at me with a gun, i probably would not use the Byrna…. My thought would be to use it when confronted with a person with a knife of something similar. Or a drunk. Especially in a place like a rest area. It has its place…and a shootout is probably not one of them.

There is some incomplete information out there. The standard. non-chemical-containing pellets would hurt but not knock down or even substantially inhibit a determined attacker. The pepper spray and the ones containing CS gas would most likely temporarily disable an attacker, allowing you to use a non-fatal weapon like a baseball bat. However, the chemical-containing pellets are not legal in some areas, like New York.
