The gun thing is a sticky wicket for sailboats. You may need one to ward off pirates, but in some ports you can go to prison if they search the boat and find a gun. One of these might be legal however.
So is a flair gun! Take your pick.

RE: Flair gun

Is that what the pride group uses?

Interesting. I was worried it wouldn't hit someone hard enough to deter them. Last thing I want to do is shoot someone and only piss them off. Sheridany what do you think? Will it deter an attacker? Heavy coat not withstanding............you know like on a regular spring/summer/fall kinda day or night? Or would it require a head shot?
I wouldn't want to get hit by one. I think a head shot with one could knock someone out. I have mine loaded with both pepper and hard

If a guy comes at me with a gun, i probably would not use the Byrna…. My thought would be to use it when confronted with a person with a knife of something similar. Or a drunk. Especially in a place like a rest area. It has its place…and a shootout is probably not one of them.
I probably wouldn't have preferred a Byrna at the OK Corral, but not many shootouts taking place at modern day rest areas.
