We are getting ready to pull the trigger on buying a 40 foot DP, most likely will be a Newmar Dutch Star 4081. I am doing a little budget work up before we decide
how deep to go into the well to buy an extravagant toy. I am pretty confident about the insurance costs and the financing. I am curious as to what CA is going to gouge us for DMV Fees annually? There is no estimator on line that I can find. Anyone care to share in scale of economy what you pay for a $450,000 bus? In the grand scheme it wont be a deal killer but we are considering an out of state purchase game plan or an out of state LLC, just trying to figure out if it is worth the hassle to manage over just paying the freight and watching our Fuhr burn it.

DMV fees will probably be around $2,400/year (guessing about 3x mine on a $150k purchase) or may e a bit less. But your sales tax will be $36,000 so that alone is worth doing something else.

According to the DMV the Vehicle License Fee is calculated as 0.65% of the purchase price - but then they add on other fees on top of that. You can get more information at the DMV website

Ouch! My last bill was $1048 on a $150k purchase in may of 2020. So you can extrapolate from there.

Another reason I don't live in California anymore. Seriously, the DMV fees that California are just ridiculous! I understand your pain, though. Very nice rig you're getting!!
