If you have a camper that is now at a permanent site does it make sense to keep renewing registration for the plate with your state? Anybody know if Pennsylvania has any fees if you later want to renew registration after it lapses?

I don't know about your state but Kansas has an INOP status and costs $12.00 per month but late fees for not registering are $10.00 per month. I use to have old cars and while there wasn't road worthy I just didn't renew them.

As long as it's stored on private property, I can see no reason to register it. Check with your state about returning plates/registering non-operational if that applies.

I know in my state you have to keep current plates on mobile homes so I would give DMV a call and ask.

I used to just let stuff lapse then if there was a late penalty, I'd "sell" it to my wife for $1 plus the mandatory 7% sales tax.
