The smoke has made it's way to VA. I've never experienced it this bad! Unbelievable!

Air quality - no quality! Very very bad!

bad here in N. Illinois, 3 days of it, our Dogs won't even stay out long, burns the throat and eyes

My thermostat is literally telling me to stay inside due to the AQI.

I’ve been out in the yard a few times today and it’s nauseating.

Friends in Ohio said someone likened being out in it to smoking seven cigarettes an hour - that’s pretty bad.

Hasn’t made it to Florida though.

Maybe the wind turbines should be reversed. Use solar to run the turbines

I read a meme that stated that the smoke in the Midwest is akin to a 1970 Bingo hall…

Surprised Donald hasn’t closed the boarder to keep the illegal smoke out. Haha
He has already discussed tarrifs.

Those comments are his style of stirring the pot, but mixed in there is some truth about forest management. Both sides of the border have policies that are making the fires much worse than necessary.

Cleaning the forest floors and and thinning forests is the most common theory posed, but that goes against nature.

My view is that fires are natural and from the fires comes growth that wasn’t possible. Of course man makes some of the conditions worse (electrical lines, camp fires, arson, etc.)

I personally like it when the fires are left to burn out and only infrastructure is protected. Making fire breaks in advance to protect infrastructure is the best defense.

When I did a tour of Yellowstone this came up that it was a mistake not to let them burn.

I have to ask how does one clean a forest? There are literally 100,000s of acres of forest. "someone" said the same thing about California. They are not truly forest fires they are brush fires with chaparral in hard to reach places. Those 'weeds" bond the soil from mudslides.

Around land you want to not burn, you pick it up. If you operate campgrounds you allow the public to burn anything that falls to the ground. Parks that allows this have free labor.

Once you have established your parameters you the. Make your fire break and let nature handle the rest.

Raise goats on it.
